Vapid Aisha

Maybe its the fasting... or the hectic schedule... or my neighbor's new found fascination with restoring cars and the incessant "zoom zoom" at three second intervals... but I just feel drained and tired and not particularly interesting. Vapid. infact. Is that correct usage? It sure sounds fitting (I refer you to exhibit A on the left for clarification of current self image). Ever have one of those..weeks? *sigh*

My answer is a big, FAT Y.E.S. However, I'm not fasting, I can go without sleep and I can totally deal with the chaos that is my life with the kids, hubby, activities and the constant racing.

It's the emotional things that steal my shine. The things I feel deeply or uncertain about, they are usually things that make me cry. For me, that the is the biggest drain ever.

Take care of yourself. Please!!

I thought it was just me - but this Ramadan it just seems there is no time. Wake up at 5, eat Suhur, sleep for an hr. Go to work. Come back. Read a little Quran - oops Iftar. Relax - oops Taraweeh. Come back. 10. Too tired. Sleep.

Repeat.

For some reason last Ramadans weren't like that though.

Lol, ever have one of those weeks? I seem to have months and years like that... :D I duno, i still have two meals a day like usual, except their timings are changed to seher and iftar, but the rest of the 24 hrs has disappeared somewhere in between. Im so maxed out completely, with projects and a thesis to hand in, tests to appear for and my final exams a month away. GULP! Pray for me pretty please!

Koonj, Maleeha :)

Mystic, I think honestly, chai is a big part of the problem. Seriously. B/c its Ramadan I'm not keeping milk b/c it goes bad from not enough use. Then I dont have any chai all day. I think it gets me down.

Mommyblogr, Im taking care of myself. Just one of those... weeks :)

Mezba, yeah thats what it feelsl ike. Time is flying and I can't catch up!

Sohnii, long time no see, i'll keep you in my thoughts dear :0)

ZZ, I dont know what I would do without you. Thank you for your fabulous advice. I am all better now.

I think it's because the sun sets later than it has in previous Ramadans (because we are still in daylight savings time). For the last couple of years, iftaar would be around 6, which meant tarweeh was over by 9ish, and you still had plenty of evening left to go. Now, taraweeh is over around 10:30, and that's just about time to go to sleep. We're probably fasting around the same number of hours, but it feels so much longer!

Yes, I agree it's the timing of this years Ramadan that seems so exhausting. Take care, sweetie.

Oh...those moments are just too familiar :)
It is teh season, I think...the fatc that summer is over....but hey...the Holiday season is almost upon us :)
Did I scare you :)

Aisha said...

Huda that might be it. I dont do tarawee but I have classes at night and so it just consumes the day. You get home and its time to sleep, and you spent a day eating not much. I might need to buy some vitamins...

Baji, thanks, you too :)

Minka, *sigh* the year flew by didnt it? But yeah I guess everyone gets a little gloomy as the cold moves in. I like the cold normally. fall is my favorite season. Who knows? :)

I actually had to skip out on fasting for a few days this week, on the weekends it's okay because the schedule is relaxed, but during weekdays, it's really tough having to spend a whole day running after kids, dropping off and picking up kids from school, preparing their meals, etc...normally I don't get time to eat much anyway and thought it would be easy, but it's really hard. The other day I accidentally ate my daughter's leftover oreo cookie and turkey sandwich before I remememberd I was supposed to be fasting that day. This is actually the first year I'm fasting in four years because prior to this I was either pregnant or nursing. But now I'm wondering if moms of little children can get an extended free pass. I'll try fasting again tomorrow though.

Thanks William, btw do you have a private blog? I tried clicking to your link and it said access private.

Chic, I bet with all that it can be quite hectic. Hectic keeps me busy and takes my mind off of it but I think your stuff just requires so much active energy that it is exhausing. Eating food by accident is not going to invalidate your fast though. I used to forget frequently when I was younger, when I was 10 I think I ate an entire hamburger. It was noon and I was used to my routine and just ate it. lol. But its about intention and my intention wasn't to break it.

LOL. I've seen that graphic before. I've also BEEN that graphic before ;)

I'd say it's probably a combination of the fasting and busy schedule. Hang in there, chick. Get rest whenever you can and when you're allowed to eat, make sure the food is well balanced.

I'm feeling wiped out, too. I've been trying to get a lot of organizing done here at home, coupled with the stress of the in-laws simply existing and breathing my air. LOL. Well, lack of emotional energy leads to lack of physical energy for me... And this chilly rain today is not helping.

I think it's about time for another classic Mitch quote, don't you?

Aisha, I didn't think I had a private blog but I did start another one and I haven't gotten it fully developed yet, so that may be the problem. I continue to post to Wil's Rant as well. All the best!

Tee, hope you feel better soon too! :( Chilly rain stinks.

Jane, YES! That is most in need. Coming soon :)

William, found it :)
