Why you should keep in mind your mom reads your blog when posting

Ami: I read your blog. It says you are feeling bad.
Aisha: yeah, its okay, I'm fine.
Ami: I saw the picture, beta*.The boy, he fell. On the door. With his books.
Aisha: no no! its a Far Side comic. Its a school for the gifted and the gifted boy is pushing on a door he's supposed to pull.
Ami: Well... I'm still concerned.

Note to self: don't scare mother with blog.

*beta as in urdu word for child. Not beta as in second letter of Greek Alphabet or mathematical measure of the sensitivity of rates of return on a portfolio. Seriously.

How funny!! Yes, I always get a phone call when there is something is question for Mom.

The thing that cracks me up is, I talk to her VERY regularly, so I'm never really sure what all the fuss is about, lol!!

I'm so glad my mom is computer illiterate. If my mom ever knew I was writing posts called "Pamela Anderson Stars in Attack of the Nips" she would wonder what she did wrong raising me.

LOL! that's hilarious, Aisha! One day my mom came into my room and noticed Nietzsche's book "The Gay Science," on my bookshelf (which as you might know is not about homosexuality but about the "happy" wisdom as Nietzsche liked to call it) and said " Haye Allah, you have started to read books about lesbians?! Don't let your father see this!"

I noticed in "graphical visit counter" on right bottom of screen, that no one from "siberia" "sahara" and "antartica" is visiting your blog as yet!!!

Too bad, you aren't popular enough! :D

Mystic yes, no matter how old you get, your mom is always your mom and you are always a kid

Muslim Wife, lol yes, she reads mine at least. I think I got her hooked on sometimessobia too, lol :)

Zak, thanks :-)

Zehra, long time no see! lol, did she say it in urdu? Such things sound funnier like that to me, lol. Our conversation was in Punjabi but I decided to translate. It was funnier in Punjabi!

Aragorn, lol, well I put a comma!

Tom, welcome to the blog :) yes I can probably concur no one has visited me from Antartica or Siberia. One day! One day! ;0)

:-) That is so like my Mom! She never sees the "bigger picture" of what I am trying to say. She just hones in on the part that says her child is hurt, sad, sick or in danger and constructs the worst thoughts possible. Arggh! :-)

Awww...that's really funny!

Speaking of mathematical constants (actual convo involving some of my Pakistani friends at MIT):

Person One (jokingly): Awww...what's wrong, beta?
Person Two: I'm not BETA, I am GAMMA!

I think he'd done a few too many problem sets that day.

LOL that is tooooo funny! Its for folks like that, that I clarified on the bottom, :)

ROFL! That's hilarious and so sweet at the same time. I love it.

Also, beta could be a small video tape, a program in it's "rough draft" state, or a fish :D Hee hee...

Saadia said...

Umm, hehe. I thought you would be called a "beti" because you are female. Am I wrong? I think you're mom is just concerned in general and just picked a topic to be concerned about. In this case it was the far side comic. Haha, It is sweet.

Saadia said...

Oh wait she is talking about your what you said actually in the blog. She is so concerned for you. I still think you are accident prone because if you get into an accident you have something to worry about besides the usual studying/job hunting.
